How Legal Funding Can Support Families During Wrongful Death Lawsuits
"The loss of a loved one due to wrongful death is a life-altering tragedy that leaves a lasting impact on families. Dealing with the emotional, financial, and legal challenges following such a loss can be overwhelming, especially when the lawsuit process can drag on for months or even years."

im so glad that we never get a clear picture of sophie’s background in leverage & i hope we never do. however i also really like making up various, often conflicting backstories for her in my head. perhaps they’re all backstories for an alias of hers, ones she laid to rest back in season two.
#leverageposting#leverage#sophie devereaux#particularly that one of or both her parents had to move around a lot for work & so she would change herself to fit in at every new school#or new town etc etc. and that whatever original identity she had was dropped due to some kind of really awful event and her bio family think#she’s dead. eg she got into some kind of extreme legal trouble for the first time & she faked her death & everyone she knew as a kid thinks#she’s dead too. like. astrid wasn’t the first person she left to miss/mourn her.#but also that she was a teen runaway at like age ~16 and pretended to be an adult (like. 18/19) cause theres not much you can do by yourself#as a minor like booking flights or renting an apartment. and so began her first proper alias. and she was a pickpocket until she could fund#her life fully through grifting & cons.#or alternatively her parents died when she was a teen & she was old enough to become an emancipated minor (everyone in lev is an orphan)#and she kind of just fell into crime from there bc she had no one#or perhaps she got married at 17 and realised how fucked it all was and stashed money until she could run away & leave it all behind. that’s#bc of a single vague sentence on john rogers’ blog saying she was married at 17 and in context it was quite possibly a joke or random#hypothetical example but i was like what if???? What If???????#i also like the hc that she’s trans which i’ve seen a few times#in some versions in my mind her parents were okay and in some versions they were awful and in some versions it was so complicated.#i think tara has heard one story and parker or hardison have heard another and nate has never heard any story. he’s never asked.#she is here now and that’s all that needs knowing. and sophie devereaux is her real name in any way it matters.#eliot has also never asked and she asked if he was curious once and he just asked if she was curious about What He Did and that was answer#enough for the both of them. just a mutual agreement not to ask and it actually solidified their bond.#i think she struggled for a long time about whether to tell her new family The Real Story but in much the same way we never hear her birth#name bc it’s not Her anymore… she never gives The Real Story. bc it no longer defines who she is. she’s so much more than whatever happened.#lvg

Jazz joins the Suicide Squad to save Danny
So! Danny got caught by the GIW. And it was Public too.
Jazz can see absolutely no way to save Danny. The GIW Base is heavily fortified, she has no help aside from Tucker and Sam, and public opinion is against Ghosts, so nobody would want to help her protest his Capture. Maybe a few teenagers from the high school, but absolutely none of the adults would help.
So she does the one thing she can. She contacts Amanda Waller.
Waller had previously approached her Parents about buying some of their tech off them, for her "Specializes Task Force" to use in case they ever came up against a Ghost.
From the short interaction Jazz had with Waller, she knew one thing.
That Woman would do ANYTHING, to protect the Government she worked for.
All Jazz needed to do, was offer her something that outweighed the value of capturing Danny. Information. The Infinite Realms, the True Biology of Ghosts, the Psychology of Ghosts, the Power Structure of the Realms, and so much more. Waller needed to know everything she could about the Realms to feel secure, to feel like her Country was safe. She needed Information.
And Jazz had that in spades.
As the daughter of the Leaders on Ectology, and a friend to multiple Saptient Ghosts, including the Kings and Queens of various Realms, she was uniquely qualified to provide all this information.
And Waller was impressed. But she still felt like she needed a little more, and seeing as Jazz was a highly trained Martial Artist due to her Mom, and had been taught enough about mechanical engineering by her Dad to constitute a Major in in, she saw potential.
She saw a Pawn. Perfect for placement on Task Force X. Her Suicide Squad had been missing an extra member recently, and Jazz was the perfect fit.
So they made a Deal.
Danny Fenton, also known as The Phantom, would he released from Government Detainment, alongside any other Sentient/Sapient Ghost in their possession. They would he protected from further Detainment until further Notice, and the Town of Amity Park would be left alone by the GIW Indefinitely.
In return, Jazzmine Fenton would be hired on as Amanda Wallers On-Call Consultant for anything related to Ghosts and the Realms. Additionally, she would be employed as a Part Time Member of Task Force X, answering the call of Duty whenever is is directed as her, No Questions Asked. (Or the deal would be null and void)
But she would Endure it. Because she and Waller had one thing in common.
She would do Anything, to protect her little brother.

I've been in a bit of a tough spot for forever and have had to ask for help more often than I'd like. While I'm incredibly grateful for the support I've received, I also want to explore other ways to raise funds without constantly relying on direct donations.
Do any of you have ideas or suggestions for alternative fundraising methods? Whether it's offering a service, creating something to sell, or even setting up a crowdfunding campaign with specific goals, I'm open to any and all suggestions. Your input would mean a lot to me

Thinking about Raised in Amphibia AU and how the girls get married when they're still teenagers, and I get that it might be controversial but I actually really like the fantasy vibes that comes with characters getting married so young, it helps to make the world feel more old timesey and medieval and culturally alien, like, marrying at 16 sounds insane to most people nowadays but in fantasy frog land Sprig and Maddie were engaged by their guardians at age 10 so I think it not only makes perfect sense for Marcy and Sasha to get engaged for political reasons at 14 and then get married at 16 - dragging Anne along with them - but also... something something kids forced to grow up to fast, something something fantasy politics, and these three characters having such a different way of seeing love and relationships than we do in the real world, that when Anne goes back to Earth and meets her biological parents for the first time, she has no idea how to tell them that, at age 23, she's been married for 7 years and has two wives.

Understanding the Risks of Pre-Settlement Accident Lawsuit Funding
Pre-settlement accident lawsuit funding is a helpful resource for plaintiffs needing financial support while awaiting a case resolution. However, like any financial arrangement, it carries potential risks. Understanding these risks is essential for making informed decisions. This article explores the key risks associated with pre-settlement accident lawsuit funding and provides guidance on navigating them effectively.
Tumblr media
What Is Pre-Settlement Accident Lawsuit Funding?
Pre-settlement funding, also known as a lawsuit loan, provides plaintiffs with cash advances based on their expected settlement or court award. These funds can cover living expenses, medical bills, and other costs that may arise while a lawsuit is pending. Unlike traditional loans, pre-settlement funding is non-recourse, meaning repayment is only required if the plaintiff wins the case.
Key Risks to Consider
While pre-settlement accident lawsuit funding can provide immediate relief, it’s important to recognize the associated risks. Here are some potential drawbacks:
1. High Interest Rates and Fees
One of the most significant risks of pre-settlement funding is the high interest rates and fees that often accompany it. Unlike conventional loans, which typically carry lower rates, lawsuit funding companies may charge interest rates as high as 27-60% annually. This high rate can lead to substantial repayment amounts, which might consume a large portion of the final settlement.
Solution: Compare Rates and Terms
To mitigate this risk, compare rates and terms from different pre-settlement funding companies. Some companies are more transparent with their fees and may offer more favorable terms, especially if the lawsuit is expected to settle soon.
2. Reduction of Final Settlement Amount
The structure of pre-settlement funding means that a portion of the settlement will go toward repaying the advance, along with accumulated interest and fees. In some cases, this can leave plaintiffs with a significantly reduced amount from their original settlement.
Solution: Borrow Only What You Need
Consider carefully how much funding you truly require, as borrowing only what is necessary can reduce the financial burden on your final settlement.
3. Unpredictable Case Outcomes
If the case outcome is not favorable, plaintiffs may not owe anything back, but if it results in a lower-than-expected settlement, the borrowed amount could still represent a significant portion of that sum.
Solution: Evaluate Case Strength with an Attorney
Before securing pre-settlement funding, consult with your attorney to evaluate the strength of your case. This assessment can help you determine if taking out lawsuit funding is a viable option or if it might put you in a difficult financial position.
4. Potential Impact on Case Strategy
In some cases, pre-settlement funding can impact the overall strategy of the lawsuit. Plaintiffs who are financially dependent on the funding may feel pressured to accept a lower settlement offer simply to repay the advance.
Solution: Work Closely with Your Legal Team
Discuss your funding options and their potential impact on your case with your attorney. This transparency will help ensure that you’re not compromising the case outcome for immediate financial relief.
Is Pre-Settlement Funding Right for You?
While pre-settlement accident lawsuit funding offers immediate relief, understanding its risks is essential. High interest rates, potential settlement reduction, and impact on case strategy are factors to consider. Plaintiffs should weigh these risks carefully, consult with their attorneys, and explore alternative funding options if possible.

I am reading a local newsletter’s article about the most recent city council meeting, and I really don’t understand people who are anti-voting and who do not want any input into their local government.
They talked about programs to cut the city’s carbon footprint, a program to increase the use of solar energy, infrastructure plans to increase air quality and decrease pollution and add more tree canopy, letting the city water utility sell waste to be converted into renewable natural gas, and then they talked about upgrades to the football/soccer stadium.
The council members brought up working class people in their arguments, indicated that they listened to their constituents who talked to them and took their input into account, etc. Also one of them is gunning for hosting the 2040 Olympics here, which lololol.
But yeah, this is all important stuff that will directly affect my life, and I just can’t get into the mind of someone who’s like “Performing membership in a cynical negative online cult is more important to me than the quality of the air I breathe and the survival of my local ecosystem.”

Philip Lewis at HuffPost:
Residents in a small Alabama town will be able to vote in their own municipal elections for the first time in decades after a four-year legal battle. A proposed settlement has been reached in the town’s voting rights case, allowing Newbern, a predominantly Black town with 133 residents, to hold its first legitimate elections in more than 60 years. The town’s next elections will be held in 2025. The settlement was filed June 21 and must be approved by U.S. District Judge Kristi K. DuBose. For decades, white officials appointed Newbern’s mayor and council members in lieu of holding elections. Most residents weren’t even aware that there were supposed to be elections for these positions.
[...] The settlement will reinstate Patrick Braxton as the mayor of Newbern, the first Black person to hold the position in the town’s 170-year history. Capital B News had first reported about Braxton’s fight. Braxton was the only candidate who filed qualifying paperwork with the county clerk in 2020, so he won the mayoral race by default. The incumbent, Haywood “Woody” Stokes III, hadn’t even bothered to fill out the paperwork to run again. Haywood Stokes Jr., his father, had previously been mayor of the rural Black Belt town. After Braxton assumed office, he faced several obstacles. He discovered the locks to the town hall had been changed, and that the town council had held a secret special election in which they simply reelected themselves. They then reappointed Stokes III as mayor of Newbern in 2021. He has been acting as mayor ever since.
Newbern, Alabama will be set to hold elections for its municipal officers next year for the first time in over 60 years as a result of a proposed settlement over the majority-Black town's residents being deprived of their voting rights. This settlement also reinstates Patrick Braxton to the Mayor post.
